Backstory
The Road to Viridia’s Reach
Doc never planned on setting foot in Viridia’s Reach.
Once, a long time ago, he was just Holliday, a doctor in some nameless frontier town where the dust settled in your lungs like regret. He had been a man of medicine, a healer, someone who believed in patching people up instead of putting them in the ground.
But life had other plans.
A gambling habit, a sharp tongue, and a streak of bad luck had earned him the wrong kind of enemies. First, it was a handful of angry card players. Then, it was a duel gone south. Eventually, the bodies started piling up—not by his hand, but because of it.
Then came the sickness. The kind that didn't care how fast you drew your gun or how much gold you had tucked away. When the coughing started—wet, bloody, final—he knew he had to leave.
He took off, heading east, looking for cleaner air and a fresh start. Town after town, saloon after saloon, he played cards, patched up wounds for a few coins, and stayed just ahead of the past clawing at his heels.
But the past doesn’t just catch up—it waits for you at the next turn.
It found him in Raven Gulch, where an old acquaintance with a grudge tried to put a bullet in his chest over an unsettled debt. It found him in Redwater, where bounty hunters mistook him for a killer and he barely made it out with his hide.
And then, finally, it found him in Viridia’s Reach.
Viridia’s Reach – The Last Stop
He rode into town with little more than his gun, his satchel of medical tools, and a cough that refused to let go. It was supposed to be a stopover—a place to rest, make some coin, and move on before anyone started asking questions.
The Nymphaeum Tavern was the first place he walked into. A whiskey, a card game, and maybe a bed for the night. That’s all he wanted.
For the first time in a long while, Doc wasn’t running anymore.
Viridia’s Reach wasn’t clean, it wasn’t safe, and it sure as hell wasn’t kind.
But it was home now.
